Erich – Distant Farewell

Between 2004 – 2009 a grandmother sent 19 letters to her granddaughter, who was living abroad. Together the envelopes shape a colourful block. Even though the written content remains inaccessible, the viewer learns more than just the occasions and dates the letters were sent at.

Starting on 03/07/2006 the death of the grandfather manifests itself on this medium of communication. Thin black lines cross out the name Erich – in memory of a farewell from the distance.
